Sacramental Preparation
At St Austin’s, we are committed to supporting our children as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion through the With You Always programme. These important milestones mark a significant stage in each child’s faith journey, helping them to grow in their relationship with Jesus and develop a deeper understanding of God’s love, mercy and the gift of the Eucharist.
The With You Always programme, developed by the Archdiocese of Liverpool, is built on a strong partnership between home, school and parish. Families, catechists, parish leaders and school staff work together to nurture children in their faith, recognising that parents are the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith. By continuing the promises made at Baptism, parents play a central role in guiding and encouraging their children as they prepare for these special sacraments.
Through a range of engaging activities, prayer experiences and shared learning opportunities, children and their families are encouraged to explore the meaning and importance of the Sacraments. The programme provides valuable opportunities for families to pray together, reflect on their faith and strengthen their connection with God and the wider parish community.
Supported by Father David Potter and the Parish of St Francis of Assisi, our children are warmly welcomed into the life of the Church throughout their sacramental preparation. The catechists in our parish community play a vital role in accompanying families on this journey, offering encouragement and support as children prepare to celebrate these joyful occasions.
The With You Always programme helps children to recognise that faith is not simply about receiving a sacrament but about living as followers of Christ each day. It encourages them to grow in faith, share God's love with others and embrace the values of the Gospel throughout their lives.
