Prayer and Liturgy
St Austin’s Catholic Primary School provides opportunities for both pupils and staff to gather in worship and give praise to God. This is inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, while also recognising and respecting the spiritual and educational needs of everyone involved.
We believe that worship in a Catholic school acknowledges and celebrates God’s presence in our daily lives. It is our loving response, expressed through words and actions, to God’s call to build a relationship with Him—made possible through the work of Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
All acts of worship follow the traditional four-part structure: gather, listen, respond, and go forth on a mission. At times, greater focus may be given to certain elements depending on the needs of the moment. Scripture always plays an important role in collective worship, whether through a full reading or a brief passage used for reflection and prayer.
Every child is included in daily worship and is given the opportunity to take part and respond. This shared experience allows everyone to reflect on the mystery of God, appreciate the beauty of life, and grow closer to Him.
We are currently in a period of transition as we continue to implement the new Prayer & Liturgy Directory, ‘To Love You More Dearly’.
