Key Stage Two - Pupil of the Week 30.09.16

Congratulations to this week's 'Pupils of The Week'.  Friday September 30th 2016

(Year 3) Louie 3SD, Jacob 3NM,

(Year 4) Amshavi 4TD, Patrick 4GC

(Year 5) Thomas 5JD, Max 5SC

(Year 6) Lilie 6NB, Lucas 6EV

Another busy week in school – today the children told me about European Languages Day and the story that they had studied from another culture.

Year 3 said their register in several different languages including Russian, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, German and Turkish. They also studied a Traditional Spanish story called La Luna which you can find more about on their class blog.

Year 4 studied the Italian classic ‘Pinocchio ‘which they told me was slightly different from the Disney version.

Year 5 worked on the Dragon of Krakow ‘, a traditional Polish story- the dragon eventually blew himself up … it’s a long story (as one of the children politely put it!)

Year 6 studied two different stories – one was a traditional Swedish tale, ‘the Sausage ‘ about a woman who is granted three wishes , ends up with a sausage on her nose  and then uses her final wish to get rid of the sausage . The moral of the story ‘be careful what you wish for!’ . The other year 6 class studied a traditional Irish tale (three guesses which class) called ‘The Children of Lir ‘.

Thomas and Max have had a particularly brilliant week as they represented our school in their very first cross – country race finishing 28th and 41st respectively out of a field of nearly 200 runners. Well done to everyone!

I hope they you all enjoy the weekend and that Sunderland can win their first premiership game of the season!!
