Today our visitors observed teaching in all year groups including intervention groups and again they were extremely impressed with the quality of teaching and learning and particularly with the excellent behaviour of our children. Year 6 were celebrating VE day and there was much surprise when our visitors were greeted with a selection of characters ranging from Land Girls, to military personnel to evacuees to ‘spivs’. The children had great fun though I’m not sure that many of them were impressed with the ‘spam’ sandwiches.
Our meeting focussed on how we support pupils with additional needs – there were no glitches with the skype today and our Romanian colleague was able to make a valuable contribution. A review of the year made us realise how much progress had been made since the project started – more information on this can be seen on the BLEND website https://www.erasmus-blend.com/
Project plans for next year were discussed along with a timetable of the host visits for the next academic year.
This afternoon our visitors had a very different culinary experience to yesterday’s meal at Spire. The world famous ‘Steve’s Chippy’ had their biggest order in years when 18 portions of fish and chips were fried and taken to Sefton Park for our visitors and some of the staff. We have had an amazing week and some great friendships have been forged among the adults based on respect for our common goal of giving all of our children the very best opportunities. Our children have again been a credit to all and have consistently demonstrated the very best of what young Liverpool people are about. We wish all of our visitors a very safe journey home and look forward to the next two years of this exciting project.
