Week beginning 13th October/13 de octubre

We have been following Mr Carney and Miss Carney's visit to our link school in Turkey this week. The children there have answered the questions we sent to them and their answers created a good question for us - 'Is a long summer holiday a good idea?'  Go to our blog pages to find out what we asked and what we replied, the children know how to log on for access.

In History we are starting to look at the Greek Myths and Legends stories especially as that will be the focus of our visit to The Walker Art Gallery in November. Thank you to those who have sent their reply slips in already. These stories are so good, full of powerful Gods and Goddesses, heroes and heroines, monsters and beasts and it would be great if you could read some at home for the children to retell and listen to in class.

We made our Greek pots from clay last week and this week we are painting them. A reminder that a painting shirt is a must to protect uniform during art lessons. Please check that your child has an old shirt or suitable covering.

Thursday's assembly is the appeal for 'Operation Christmas Child' and we would encourage as many as possible to take part. We are so lucky to be in a position to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Thank you parents and carers for your continued support with reading at home. It is so important that the children are heard reading and are read to regularly to foster their enjoyment of books. Reading helps your child in so many ways from helping to gain a wider vocabulary, to spelling, grammar and punctuation, understanding story structure, gaining information and so much more. Please continue to engage and encourage them by making this an enjoyable experience.
