Planting Seeds

As part of this term's science topic, this week we have been learning about plants. We first revised the different parts of a flowering plant (roots, stem, leaves, flower, petals); then talked about what plants need to grow - the most important things being sunlight and water. As part of our work on plants, we have also planted our own broad beans. We chose transparent cups so we could see the roots growing and poked some holes in the bottom to let the water drain out. After that, we visited the poly tunnel to fill our pots with compost and plant our seeds. Over the coming weeks we will be monitoring how our plants are growing. Hopefully we won't end up in a Jack and the Beanstalk situation...
