Paso Doble

This morning we learned a dance called Paso Doble. Claire and Paul told us the story of the dance which was about a bull and a man who was a bullfighter (a matador) and the bull was chasing the man's cape. We had to do 8 stamps, 8 claps then push the bull away and twirl our cape. Next the girls had to do flamenco hands and the boys did a chassé and at the end we all did a highlight. A highlight is where you stand still and balance with a good pose. (By Lyla and Max)

Dance Passion - Paso Doble Workshop

Clare and Paul from Dance Passion started our workshop by telling us the story behind the famous dance the Paso Doble and then they did a demonstration.  Next they talked us through a short warm up in preparation for the lesson.  Clare and Paul then taught us the steps, speaking to us in Spanish.  They were impressed by how much Spanish we already knew such as the numbers 1 to 8 as well as the words 'chicos' and 'chicas'.  Clare and Paul taught us the words for 'left' and 'right' (izquierda y derecha) as we needed to know them for the dance.  We mastered the steps quickly and worked really hard on characterisation.  Miss Barrett always looks forward to Dance Passion visiting school as their workshops are brilliant and really fun, she's even thinking of joining as she wants to learn to dance Salsa.  You could join too!  Check out Dance Passion's website - www.dance-passion.co.uk  (By Ethan W and Adriana)
