Pancake Tuesday

Today we had pancakes, "Mmmm".

This day is also called 'Shrove Tuesday' and we found out that the reason we have pancakes is because many years ago, Christians prepared for Lent, a time of 'fasting' and thinking of Jesus's suffering. Fasting is when we eat less, especially of the foods that we think of as a little bit special. That is why foods like butter and eggs were used up on the day before Lent began. They are used to make pancakes.

Ours were really tasty as you can see in the photographs. Unfortunately Mr Maloney's class had enjoyed theirs really quickly and they had all disappeared before the camera arrived! We hope you enjoy yours.
