Today we have been learning all about different dips from all over the world. We looked at salsa from South America, hummus from Egypt and tzatziki from Greece. Once we learned where each one was from and what ingredients go into making them, we taste tested them all and gave them scores out of 10. After tasting those it was time to have a go at following recipes to make our own. We looked at recipes for guacamole from Mexico and raita from India and then got stuck into making them. Finally, we taste tested these dips and scored them out of 10 as well. We also learned some important tips to stay safe when cooking. When cutting with a knife, we learned 3 moves: the bridge, the claw and the fork hold. We also talked about how it is important to wash your hands, tie up long hair, wear and apron and roll up long sleeves.
