Happy Chinese New Year!

Last week we celebrated Chinese new year in school by learning how each year came to be named after an animal. Miss Livingstone told us a traditional story of all the animals swimming across the river. This year it is the year of the rooster. Miss Livingstone looked at the different years and told us that when we were born it was either the year of tiger (2010) or rabbit (2011). She even told us that it was the year of the tiger when she was born too!

We then looked a Chinese customs and symbols. We found out about a Chinese lucky tree and how it brings good luck and peace to each house. We decided to create our own lucky trees to bring good luck and peace to our school.
