Welcome to Computer Club!
What is a computer?
Last week at Computer Club we talked about the different types of computer technology that exist in the world. From mobile phones to washing machines - computers seem to be everywhere in various shapes and sizes.
Take a look at the presentation below to see some of the different devices and machines which contain computers, many of which we use in our day-to-day lives.
So what makes computers tick?
The computers which we use in school are called 'Desktop Computers'. Desktops are very similar in build to laptop computers. In fact, desktops are very similar in build to mobile phones, tablets and many other types of computer because they all share similar components.
We will be looking at some of these components in more detail but in the meantime, what can you find out about the different parts of a desktop computer? and What do they do?
Whoever gives the best answers to these questions will receive a fantastic prize in the next Computer Club so make sure you answer carefully.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Chris Maloney, a computer games designer from award winning developers Playrise Digital.
Chris talked to the children about what is involved in making mobile games and the amount of work that goes into even the smallest applications.
The children had the opportunity to take a look at some of the equipment and software needed to make a computer game including a water cooled high spec computer.
