Come and See - Vocation and Commitment - Learning Focus 1

This week, the children in Year 6 began their new Come and See topic: Vocation and Commitment.

The children have been exploring vocation and calling, how it feels to be commited and what they are commited to in their own lives. Through Baptism, all Christians are called to share in the mission of Jesus. Children discussed how they can live out their own vocation (calling) to share in the mission of Jesus.

The children read John 1:35-41; they thought carefully about how apostle Simon must have felt and devised their own questions to ask him. Some children then 'hot seated' as Simon and answered the questions using their understanding of the scripture. See our videos of the interview with Simon below!

We then engaged and responded with God's Story - Mark 1:9-1, describing how John baptised Jesus in the River Jordan. The children put themselves in John the Baptist's shoes and wrote a diary entry explaining the baptism of Jesus. Some of these children read out their wonderful entries: see the videos below!
