A Growing Investigation

In addition to us each growing our own plants (click here) under normal conditions (planted in soil, kept in sunlight and watered) we also decided to investigate if each of these conditions - soil, sunlight and water were actually important to plant growth at all. To test this, we planted some broad bean seeds under different conditions. One was planted in sand instead of soil, one was planted in soil but given no water, another was planted in soil and watered but kept in complete darkness, another seed was just put in a jar of water and finally one was planted in soil, left in the sun but as fed with coke rather than water. Which one do you think will be the most successful? Do you think any will grow at all?
