Spring Term English, Maths and Science

In Maths we'll be:
  • partitioning two digit and three digit numbers
  • adding or subtracting mentally a one digit number from any two digit number
  • working out unknown numbers in a number sentence 
  • solving problems using + - x ÷
  • adding and subtracting two digit numbers
  • recalling all addition and subtraction facts to at least 10
  • recalling all pairs of numbers with totals to 20
  • learning multiplication facts for the 2,5,10 times tables and related division facts
  • describing and sorting 2D and 3D shapes
  • drawing lines of symmetry on shapes and making symmetrical patterns
  • measuring using litres, millilitres, metres, centimetres, kilograms and grams
  • reading a simple scale
  • reading the time on a clock (o'clock, 1/2 past, 1/4 past)
  • using whole turns, half turns and quarter turns
  • classifying data on graphs, Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams

 

In English we'll be looking at:

  • Information books
  • The author Francesca Simon who writes the Horrid Henry books
  • A film study
  • Riddles
  • Targets will be based on improving the way we start sentences and remembering to use connectives (from the autumn term).

 

 

In Science, we’ll be finding out:

  • About eating the right foods
  • About getting enough exercise
  • Why our bodies need sleep
  • What happens when we are ill
  • How germs get inside our bodies
  • How to protect our bodies
  • About our senses
  • How to group living things according to observable similarities and differences.
  • How to identify similarities and differences between environments and ways in which these affect animals and plants that are found there.
