We were delighted to welcome our guests from schools in France, Spain and Italy to St Austin’s. We formally welcomed them with two fabulous assemblies in both key stages - our children led the assemblies with year 2 singing ‘Yellow Submarine’ and year 4 pupils singing ‘Penny Lane’ – a wonderful start to the week!
We then visited all of the classrooms where children asked questions. The visitors then had a formal meeting to review the project to date.
In the afternoon Mr Gibbons, vice chair of governors, along with some staff, gave our visitors a tour of parts of the city. We visited the Terracotta Army exhibition, Matthew Street, the waterfront and then were invited to the Town Hall where our visitors met the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and also Beth Hughes, ex pupil , who next month will be the ‘Junior’ Lord Mayor.
Tonight we are hosting a gathering of our school community in the school hall where the ’Babyfaced Beatles’ will be performing.
