LDCSA Cricket Tournament
St. Austin’s were one of four schools who took part in the annual Liverpool and District Catholic Schools Association cricket tournament on Friday, 11th July. The event took place at Sefton Park Cricket club in glorious sunshine, perfect cricket weather! St. Austin’s played three games. In their first they were defeated by the very impressive Sacred Heart team but they bounced back from this to win against St. Paul’s in their second match. The boys’ final fixture, against the reigning champions St. Christopher’s, was a very close affair which was not settled until the final ball was bowled. In the end St. Austin’s won the game by the slenderest margin, a single run!
At the end of the tournament Sacred Heart were declared worthy winners, with St. Austin’s in second place, an excellent showing! Most importantly, a great day was had by all and every game was played in the spirit of good sportsmanship. We are sure many of the boys will go on to star for their new schools in the coming years.
