Growing Cress

Continuing to look at plants and seeds, this week we were investigating what the best place is for cress seeds to grow. We knew that plants grew well in soil, but we wanted to investigate if they would grow as well (or better) in other substances. As a class we came up with a list of different things to plant our cress seeds in and they were;

Soil

Cotton wool

Sand

Crisps

Hot sauce

Play-doh

Avocado

Raspberries

Chili Pepper

Jam

We made sure our test was fair by planting the same amount of seeds, giving them the same amount of water and putting them in the same place so that they got the same amount of sunlight. Which substance do you think made the cress grow the best? Have a look at the pictures below (before and after) and see if your prediction was correct.
