Afro-Peruvian Music

Our final workshop this week was all about Afro-Peruvian music. We learned about the rich history of this style of music, which originated from Africa and had a look at some typical instruments. We explored some of the instruments, such as the cajón (a box-like drum which you sit on), the cajita (a small box which you hit with a stick) and most interesting of all - the quijada - the jaw bone of a donkey! We then played some music in groups and ended the session with a traditional Peruvian dance.
