For the last few weeks, we've been doing a lot of work around clothes. We started off with a dressing up day, where we learned all about the uniforms worn by different professionals and the different purposes that they serve. Since then, we've discovered thedifferent properties of fabric and materials, found out about the work that goes in to creating and designing patterned fabrics and even made our own family tartans. To finish off our clothes topic, we decided to make t-shirts. Having spent a morning thinking about the designs we were going to use, we sat down in the afternoon and used special fabric crayons to copy our design straight onto the tshirts. It was a little bit messy (in some cases there was more crayon on hands and uniforms, than the t-shirts!) but they all looked great afterwards!
To make sure the colours don't smudge or wash off, an adult will need to sandwich the tshirt (design side up) between two clean pieces of fabric and iron them on a medium-low heat for a minute.
